New Saint-Gobain Group atividade Worldwide and in Brazil
The Saint-Gobain Group continues to grow. It has just added one more atividade to its operations. Last December 2nd, it successfully concluded the buyout of the English multinational group BPB Plc, world leader in plaster and plasterboards for the drywall construction system. The group is also an important global supplier of removable linings and heat and sound insulation products.
This new atividade reinforces Saint-Gobain’s presence in construction products. It already works with glasses, glass wool for insulation, mortars, fibrocement roof tiles (without asbestos), channeling in cast iron, files, sidings and shingles.
The operation was performed by means of a public bid for purchase of shares in the London stock exchange, on August 31st, 2005, and was concluded on December 2nd with the payment of 775 Pences/share. Today, the purchase has already exceeded 90% of shares, and by the value offered per share, the company (100% of the capital) was valued at 5.8 billion Euros.
